Electric vehicles (EV's) run on rechargeable batteries which power an electric motor.
Most EV's are charged by plugging into a normal 240V 13amp electric power source.
The vehicles currently available in the UK have a range of 50+ miles, a top speed of 50+ mph and take 2 hours to charge from half full and 6-8 hours from empty.
In all other respects, they are like regular vehicles except that they produce zero exhaust emissions, hardly vibrate or heat up and are very quiet.
